About Department
The Department was established in the year 2001. The academic activities of the department encompass practically all major sub-disciplines of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The department offers B.E degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering with an intake of 120 students per year and M.E in VLSI Design. Department is an approved research centre for pursuing Ph.D. under Anna University, Chennai.
The department is being driven jointly by dedicated staff and interested students towards achieving center of excellence on VLSI and Communication. Further, the department has been sanctioned with several research projects from government and non-government funding sectors namely, MC & IT-New Delhi, DRDO- New Delhi, AICTE- New Delhi, Texas Instruments-USA, TNSCST- Chennai and etc.
International conference, Faculty Development Programmes, Value Added Courses, seminars, visiting faculty talks and etc., are organized periodically towards knowledge exchange and skilled human resource development under ECE community network. Department also conducts workshops and symposia regularly for improving the teaching and learning process. Society welfare programs are organized by the department at regular interval to make impact on its development and awareness.
Students are exposed to best learning environment and provided with in-depth knowledge to make them competitive and industry ready.

Having a look at the career prospects, there is bound to be a huge demand for competent engineers in electronic industry to cope the demand in technology. The engineers are involved in sustaining cutting edge technology to stay ahead in competition.
An electronic engineer can find a job in Consumer electronics manufacturing organization, Telecommunication & IT industries, Health care equipment manufacturing, Mobile communication (2G,3G,4G,5G), Internet technologies, Power Electronics, and other industries like steel, petroleum and chemical industry, directing control and testing production process. They may also work with computers and electronic equipment in the medical, manufacturing, industrial control, telecommunications, aeronautical and military fields.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was established in 2001, the department is offering B.E – ECE, M.E – VLSI Design and PhD. The department has highly qualified faculty members with Ph.Ds. in diverse fields. The faculty focuses on moulding quality engineers who are capable of making great contributions for a better tomorrow. The curriculum and syllabi are designed and periodically updated to meet the societal and technological needs of the times. The department has state-of-the-art research laboratories in addition to the academic labs enabling students to pursue their desire for attaining excellence in research and academics. The facilities encourage students to have hands-on training in modern engineering tools. The department regularly organizes seminars, guest lectures, short-term training programs, workshops, and conferences for the professional development of students and faculty within and beyond the institute. Furthermore, the department strives to develop collaborative research and development linkages with leading organizations in India and abroad. |

Clubs and Activities
The prime aim of this club is not only to provide a strong emphasis in Practical Electronics but also to provide fun in learning and to help students understand the seemingly incomprehensible electronic gadgets in the world today. It also assists students in developing their own devices in an innovative way.
Objectives:
- To bring the students out of their syllabi-bound shells and expose them pragmatically to the field.
- To explain the concepts of electronics, circuit design, and hardware analysis and help them gain knowledge.
